INTRODUCTION TO PCR TECHNIQUES
 Price Information
Reagents are enough for 20 PCR reactions
2-3 students can share one reaction.
Includes electrophoresis reagents for 10 gels.

Learn one of the most common & widely used techniques in molecular biology.
Understand the technique which is used to amplify trace amount of DNA.
Understand how synthetic primers and deoxy nucleotides are used to make synthetic DNA.
Separate and analyze amplified DNA fragments on an agarose gel.

PCR allows rapid and inexpensive means to produce large number of copies of DNA molecules from a minute or trace amount of DNA. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) has become one of the most widely used techniques in molecular biology, which amplifies DNA to millions of fold by using a trace amount of DNA (source of DNA), primers, and deoxy nucleotides. PCR products are easily detected by agarose gel electrophoresis. PCR approach of amplifying the DNA is also commonly applied to paternity and forensic techniques.

Time Needed to Complete the Experiment:
Mixing reagents of PCR: 10 minutes
PCR reaction time: about 1 hour. PCR Samples can be stored in refrigerator until further      use.
Run agarose gel electrophoresis (optional): 40 minutes.

Staining time:
2-3 hrs for methylene blue or instant results with ethidium bromide stain.
Contact us for an advance kit which will allow you to make mutations by PCR technique (convert white to blue colony or vice versa).

Kit includes following items:
Plasmid DNA as a source of template
Primers and dNTPs.
Microfuge tubes and loading tips.
Loading pipet of fix 20 µl volume, extremely durable pipet- can be used up to 5,000 times.
Heavy duty test tube rack containing 80 holes for microfuge tubes.
Double autoclaved sterile water.
Agarose, enough for 10 gels
Concentrated electrophoresis buffer for making gels
DNA loading dye.
Standard DNA ladder to compare DNA sizes.
Blank sample for practice on agarose gel.
DNA staining solution

Other Requirements:
Theromocycler and electrophoresis gel apparatus (for DNA visualization).
